![]() ![]() Grell Sutcliff is portrayed as an outlandish comic relief who’s obsessed with cute guys and looking hot themselves. ![]() Grell Is, Oddly Enough, One of the More Normal Characters on the Show Without getting too deep in Kuroshitsuji gender discourse, Grell is Grell and that makes them awesome. At the same time, they often call themself by female pronouns and words. The word gets more ambiguous when you consider that many cultures like Japan’s lump being gay/lesbian with being trans MtF/FtM together. Yana Toboso, the author of Kuroshitsuji, describes them as an okama, a Japanese word that generally refers to very effeminate gay men. Okay, fussing over Grell aside, is there actually any basis for saying that they aren’t cishet? It’s just that we rarely see someone like them. While anime has never been as restrictive as some people might think, the medium has always played host to queer characters as seen in Sailor Moon and Revolutionary Girl Utena. These days, it’s almost expected, even if it remains rare, that you get one queer character in a show. Remember, Grell came out in Kuroshitsuji around 2008. Is Grell trans MtF? Are they a drag queen? Are they genderfluid? Non-binary? No one’s sure! And that’s the beauty of it. You might have noticed by now that I keep calling Grell a “they/them” and that’s because Grell…is Grell. And the church outfit with the tiny booty shorts? Controversial, but we love an icon willing to make bold fashion choices. Their shinigami attire with the red oversized coat looks fabulous in shots where they’re running on the rooftops of London. Later on, we see them in all sorts of outfits. Knowing them, they probably even picked out outfits for themself and Madame Red that would match thematically even if it was just a shared touch of red on both of their outfits. The Best Austin Butler Movies and TV Showsĭuring the J ack the Ripper arc, Grell serves as Madame Red’s butler and manages to serve even when they’re in a relatively plain butler’s uniform. Like, have you seen their hair? It would take so much conditioner to keep it as smooth and silky as it is.ġ0 Anime With Cool Male Leads That Are Worth Watching How much of that is genuine or just Grell being Grell remains to be seen, but they make an effort to look great for all the cuties either way. They manage to keep a positive outlook and remain eager to meet new people (especially when they’re cute guys).Īt the end of the day, though, their true love is Sebastian Michaelis, the demon serving Ciel Phantomhive. They’re Fabulousįor someone who gets ridiculed and treated as disgusting by many of the main cast, it’s amazing how fabulous Grell is both inside and out. When you think about what Grell is like in terms of their obviously not cishet way of presenting themself, you get a subtle hint of what they likely killed themself over. It’s theorized that they died at least a century ago. Grell’s no INFP anime character, but it’s easy to tell that their sad past has something to do with their weapon since all Grim Reapers in the world of Kuroshitsuji, people who become Grim Reapers are people who committed suicide. But there’s something decidedly melancholic about them when they sometimes let on in the anime and manga that they have serious issues. Sure, many shounen series will later reveal that their happy-go-lucky comic relief has a dark past or a sad childhood that made them determined to see the world in a more positive light. ![]() It’s not every day you see a comic relief character be teased as someone more nuanced on the inside in the same way Grell has been. Until today, fans are still debating certain aspects of their personality, particularly their gender identity. Though they’re initially portrayed as comic relief, Grell Sutcliff quickly grew on fans because of their vibrant personality that just can’t be pinned down. The redheaded Grim Reaper was introduced early in the series as the butler of Baroness Angelina Dalles-Burnett a.k.a Madame Red. The show is packed with demons, angels, and Grim Reapers all vying for human souls though the plot mostly centers on the young Earl Ciel Phantomhive and his demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis.Ĭool as they may be, though, there’s one character that stands out because there’s really no one else like them in the show and that’s Grell Sutcliff. Black Butler‘s brilliant cast of characters and fast-paced plot made it a favorite among anime fans after the show’s release in 2008. ![]()

There are two models of AGX Orin modules so-far confirmed, both launching later this year: a version with 32GB of RAM, which has eight CPU cores, 1,792 CUDA cores, 56 Tensor cores, and lower maximum GPU and NVDLA frequencies and a 64GB model that has 12 CPU cores, 2,048 CUDA cores, and 64 Tensor cores plus higher maximum clock speeds.Ī big feature of the new Ampere GPU architecture is its support for sparse networks, offering a big speed bump where applicable. Hybrid moduleĪnother thing developers need to keep in mind is that the system-on-module driving the Developer’s Kit doesn’t actually exist - at least, not as a stock-keeping unit you could slot into a finished design. The fan itself is speed-controlled according to temperature, and reasonably quiet for the amount of air it pushes at around 50dBA measured at arm’s length. The full-size PCI Express slot is now protected via a removable cover, albeit one tethered to the rest of the case by cables for a pair of adhesive antennas stuck on the inside, and there’s a clearer path for the on-board fan to pull air in and push it over the heatsink. While clearly an evolution of the one included with the AGX Xavier kit, the AGX Orin case is a big upgrade. ![]() Even at idle the Jetson AGX Orin is a hungry beast, drawing 22W in MAXN mode and over 19W even when configured for the lowest “15W” setting - though NVIDIA says this will be resolved in a future software update, enabling currently-disabled power saving features to reduce idle draw to under 5W.Īll that power has to go somewhere, and that’s into a heatsink that forms part of the bundled and pre-installed case. The company’s claimed 60W draw in “MAXN” mode, which activates all CPU and GPU cores and removes any clock restrictions in place, is the widest of the mark at 98W when measured at the wall - a measurement which, in NVIDIA's defense, includes the inefficiency of the supplied USB power brick and overhead for the carrier board. The AGX Orin, by contrast, has 15W as its absolute minimal power envelope - and hikes the upper end to 60W, twice that of its predecessor.Īs with NVIDIA’s previous Jetson kits, the claimed power envelopes are measured purely at the system-on-chip - and are noticeably conservative as a result. The Jetson AGX Xavier could be configured for a 10W to a 30W target power envelope, disabling various cores to reduce power requirements as you walked down to the bare minimum. On the topic of power draw, the new Ampere GPU in the AGX Orin definitely lives up to its name. As with its predecessor, the AGX Xavier, there’s plenty of room for expansion including a full-size PCI Express slot - though depending on what you plug into it, you’ll likely need to swap out the bundled power supply for something with a little more headroom. On paper, the Jetson AGX Orin is an absolute beast - yet sits in a tiny 4.3×4.3" footprint, if you exclude the surprisingly hefty 90W USB PD external power supply bundled in the box. Quartĭefinition: The quart (symbol: qt) is a unit of volume in the United States customary and imperial systems of measurement. ![]() The imperial gallon is used even more sparingly than the US gallon, with most countries around the world using liters when referencing fuel. Gallons are also widely used in fuel economy expression in the US, as well as some of its territories. History/origin: The term gallon most closely originates from "galon" in Old Northern French and developed as a system for measuring wine and beer in England, resulting in measures such as the wine gallon, ale gallon, and imperial gallon.Ĭurrent use: In the United States (US), gallons are often used for larger containers, such as half gallon tubs of ice cream or one-gallon cartons of milk.
